ABSTRACT. This article uses recycled concrete aggregates (RA) from construction and demolition waste and rubberized asphalt for the manufacture of hot-mix asphalt (HMA). The HMA were prepared by substituting the natural aggregate for 35% and 42% RA percentages, as well as a control mix with 0% RA. A conventional asphalt binder B35/50 and a rubberized asphalt binder BC35/50 were used. The air voids, the resistance to moisture damage, and the fatigue response were researched……

The air voids, the resistance to moisture damage, and the fatigue response were researched.
The results showed that HMA prepared using BC35/50 does not exhibit better resistance to moisture damage than HMA prepared using B35/50. Nevertheless, HMA prepared using B35/50 and BC35/50 fulfil the requirements of the Spanish specification. Moreover, in both cases, it was possible to verify the reversibility of the resistance to moisture damage. Finally, in addition to the beneficial effect of using RA on fatigue life, the incorporation of crumb rubber to HMA made with RA led to longer fatigue life on heavy traffic roads.
