Description
Environmental issues are becoming more important in many countries. Tyre rubber in hot applied materials has been used successfully for asphalt modification for many years. However emissions have become an issue , particularly in chip sealing and other surfacing. This paper examines methods of using asphalt rubber binders in cold applications. This includes an examination of emulsification of such binders, their morphology and addition of asphalt rubber to finished emulsions. The characteristics of such emulsions and their use and performance is discussed. Recommendations are made for future research.
