Poland determination to associate the European Union imposes also obligation in adjusting the environmental protection requirements to the EU standards. The disposals of the used car tires will be one of the topic problems requiring solving. Application of the crumb rubber from used car tires in road bitumen modification is one of the most rational ways in solving this problem.
The paper presents comparative analysis results of tests conducted on standard bitumens, elastomero (SBS) and bitumen – rubber binder (bitumen – rubber binder was produced in laboratory conditions). Standard and rheological tests such as viscosity in function of temperature, stiffness modulus, phase angle and deformation work in force-ductility test verifies and confirms usefulness of asphalt modification with crumb rubber as an option of bitumen modified with polymers.
