Description
Asphalt rubber has been used in the Southeast of Brazil for over one year on highways that handle high traffic volumes. The gap graded mixes used according to the procedures similar to those developed by Caltrans and Arizona DOT. Laboratory experiments employing pavement analyzer and load units to determine fatigue, resilient modulus and indirect tensile strength were performed to evaluate the asphalt rubber mixtures. A monitoring procedure has been conducted in a test section of 350 m for the purpose of evaluating the durability, safety, noise and comfort, in addition to making it possible to correlate laboratory with field results.
