Description

In some urban areas, such as those located near historical sites, the disturbance to people and buildings caused by traffic vibrations is evident and noticeable. This paper deals with a study protocol finalized to design a high performance flexible pavement with antivibration properties which can be used in the situations which have been mentioned above. The influence of a selected percentage of crumb rubber on the behaviour of binder course asphalt concrete in regards to traffic vibrations has been investigated in the laboratory as well as on the field, placed in comparison with a traditional pavement having the binder course without crumb rubber, with testing making use of both traditional and innovative methodologies and devices.
