Performance of asphalt rubber pavements

$7.00

Description

More than 150,000 tonnes of rubber asphalt were manufactured in Sweden between 2007 and 2013 for use mainly as a surfacing layer on more than 150 km of road. The pavement performance of four slightly different road structures constructed with and without asphalt rubber is presented in this work. The test sections were equipped with strain gauges at the bottom of bituminous layers. The objective is to evaluate and demonstrate the influence of asphalt rubber in various pavement layers with respect to fatigue cracking. Our conclusion, based on strain and Falling Weight Deflectometer measurements during the first year after construction of the test road, is that asphalt rubber layers can have a significant effect on fatigue cracking in pavements.
